Emerging Industries of Wuppertal began in 1986 as a forward-thinking, Ruhrgebiet manufacturers' trade association and has since gradually evolved into the quasi-religious, insurrectionary commune that haunts the watch lists of several Northern European security bureaus. While inaccurately portrayed as a "doomsday cult" by a yellow press intent on feeding the public scintillating pictorial spreads highlighting the group's predilection for irregular forms of gymnastic exercise as a tool for promoting social cohesion within a rigid hierarchy, the shadowy faction could be better described as a utopian survivalist movement which may, or may not (defectors' accounts are inconsistent on this point), precipitate a future event which would necessitate said survivalism.

Less ambiguous are reports which consistently confirm that all activity within the compound is highly ritualized, with regular partially-improvised mass-gymnastic narratives preformed to consolidate personalization of the group's aims and expectations. Unverified reports have it that a creation myth spectacular commemorating the organization's phoenix-like ascension in the post-event future has already been entirely choreographed and that it borrows liberally from the 1995 Superbowl halftime show.

Before proceeding further, it must be emphatically noted that the Strategic Tape Reserve in no way supports the views of this bizarre fringe group; in fact, we condemn them using strong, yet family-conscious, language. However, having taken into possession a leaked cache of ceremonial music originating from within the EIW, we have reached an uneasy consensus that it would not be irresponsible to publish the work, firstly, in hopes of opening a dialogue, and perhaps, eventually, as a gateway for admitting a wayward section of society into the warm, less-radical fold of the experimental electronic music community.

It's always interesting seeing qualchan. splitting pieces up with more noisier, abrasive artists on his albums whenever they do. There's a nice contrast to be found between the more sporadic, experimental loops on the first half when you get to pair with a more cohesive force, like watching a thick darkness melt over onto a perfectly sculpted statue and create something oddly captivating. Fans of either experimental, industrial loop work and psychedelic tape manipulations will like this one. Cardian Matsu
